If you are in the market for great food, my top pick is Mitchell’s Fish Market (Livonia and Rochester Hills). For my vegan community, try Ale Mary’s (Royal Oak). After dinner, why not read books and chill. My top selection of adult books this month include I Am the New Black by Tracy Morgan and Around the Way Girl a Memoir by Taraji P Henson. My top selection for children’s books for this month is Peeny Butter Fudge by Toni Morrison & Slade Morrison, Young Cornrows Callin Out the Moon by Ruth Forman, and Salt in His Shoes:Michael Jordan in Pursuit of a Dream by Delores Jordan.
If you prefer a nail-biting movie: Brain on Fire (2016) will have you on edge. Kodachrome (2018) and The Photograph (2020). Both movies are heartfelt and inspiring. Benge-worthy series: The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (2022), Messiah (2020), and Altered Carbon (2020). Family Movie: Turning Red (2022) and Luca (2021).
If you prefer to travel, well I have you covered as well. Let’s take a trip. Travel suggestion: Miami Beach, Florida is the place to go. I had an amazing time. I shopped at the Miami famed shopping streets and Bayside Marketplace. Tours were offered by bikes, bus, and boat. I enjoyed the boat tours. If you love murals and local art like I do, then stop by the Wynwood Marketplace. If you’re staying for a few days, don’t forget to relax at the Lummus Park Beach. On this trip, I happen to find the most breathtaking exhibit in Miami. I found The Holocaust Museum. The museum is located at 1933-1945 Meridian Ave. The exhibit tells the story of 6 million Jews who perished during this horrific time.
